Can you be too techy? My family might enjoy having that conversation with you. I sit here typing on my iPad using a blogger app while importing a birthday cd of mp3s to my laptop iTunes so I can sync it with my music on my iPhone OR listen to it in my car in which the stereo will play mp3s directly. My only concern is the wires and so I wait anxiously for cloud syncing.
I keep finding things that challenge me to think about ways to include new (increasingly common) technologies in worship and church- life. This week I missed a webinar (an old fashioned visit took priority) on twitter in church life. It will be available next week for replay so I'll catch it then. (& include a link to a future post if it is good.) I'm about to view a video from Kimberly Knight's post on Day1.org; "wired for ministry". I think Day1 has us all scooped and I will be following their trends as I am able.
What is your experience? How are you using Twitter, Facebook, Tumbler, & other blogs in your ministry? What have you seen that you can share? Back to syncing for now.

Well. My parish in Arizona was comprised of people in their 70's, 80's, 90's and a few in their 100's. So. technology was not a high prioroty there. Then I have been away from parish ministry for 20 months. So almost four years away from a congregtion that would appreciate technology. I have a HUGE learning curve and a lot of catching up to do. I hope you do post the link to that webinar. I want to find the best ways to use Facebook, twitter, and websites in the parish. I need to figure out if an iPad would be useful to me...and if I want a Mac for my next laptop or a better PC and what cell phone to get next and what apps I need with it so I can twitter easily and use my phone for facebook and blogs and email (well, I can use mine for email, but the other stuff, not so much). I need a techy consultant to get me up to speed.
so, in my opinion...you are not too tech - you are doing what clergy need to do in this day and age.
YAY YOU!
not too mention...do I want a kindle or a sony ereader? I think I want the sony because I can download Library books on loan....but I've used the Kindle and like it...but then again the sony pocket version of the ebook is pretty cool...
(ok I better stop now....)
If you are seriously considering an iPad, hold off on the kindle/nook reader since the iPad will do it also.
I think there are great possibilities for spiritual connection & development with folks who will never be in SS with us. Just how this will work I have yet to work on...
